This is a four-part seminar, meeting on April 2, 9, 16 & 23 | Register to Attend

Poetry bridges imagination and language, enabling us to discover new possibilities within ourselves and the world. As a transformative art form, poems begin with the simple act of noticing, then spark our curiosity and wonder. Becoming better readers of poetry helps us understand ourselves and others in more meaningful ways.

Through hands-on exercises, analysis, and discussions, explore how contemporary poems reflect and amplify who we are and who we hope to be. Key topics include imagery, sound, word choice, form, and metaphor.

Poetry After Dark will be led by Charmaine Cadeau, poet and Associate Professor of English at High Point University.

Study Hall Seminars

Pull up a chair at Study Hall, a seminar series investigating the ideas that make art so compelling.

Led by artists and creative thinkers who live and breathe their craft, Study Hall is a space for gaining deeper appreciation of art and culture. Whether it's decoding the mechanics of contemporary poetry, learning how artists imprint on their works, or experiencing new dimensions of sound, our seminars invite you to think, reflect, and see the world in a new light.

Study Hall meets on Wednesday evenings from 6:00–8:00 pm, with six unique courses offered annually.
