Downtown Space Opening Spring 2026
PLEASE NOTE: NCMA Winston-Salem’s campus is CLOSED in 2026 for construction improvements.
As capital improvements move forward at the museum campus on Marguerite Drive, NCMA Winston-Salem is proud to return to its downtown roots and where it all began seven decades ago in 1956. Coming to Fourth Street this July, NCMA Winston-Salem will open an exhibition and program space committed to fostering creativity and collaboration among visitors, artists, and community groups.
In its downtown space, NCMA Winston-Salem will partner with practicing artists to present exhibitions and experiences that encourage living with and through art. The space will invite visitors to interact with art and artists, generate ideas and connections, and support North Carolina’s creative ecosystem.
“We are excited for our return to downtown Winston-Salem,” said Bill Carpenter, executive director at NCMA Winston-Salem. “Visitors can expect museum-quality exhibitions, immersive programs, and unique opportunities to connect with artists and each other – all in a comfortable, inspiring space.”
More details will be announced in the coming months.
