To receive your free or discounted member tickets or access members-only events, you must be logged in prior to checking out the items in your cart.
Add the items that you are purchasing to your cart, and at checkout your member discount will be applied. For example, to attend an exhibition, select the paid adult ticket. The price changes from $18 to $0 once you are logged in as a member and you go to check out.
How do I log in as a member?
- To log in visit the NCMA home page and click My Account near the top. You will either log in or register for an account if it is your first time logging in.
- Please log in with one of the email addresses associated with your membership, as this is how our system will recognize you as a member.
- If you do not know what email you used or you need to update your email, please contact us.
How do I make changes to my contact information or names on my membership?
- To make any changes to your membership profile or cardholder names or to change the email associated with your membership, please email us at membership@ncartmuseum.org.
If I order a membership online, how soon can I use it?
- Your year of membership begins as soon as your payment is processed. You can start visiting right away!
- Digital membership cards are sent within a few days via email, and physical membership cards take up to three weeks via mail. You don’t need your membership card to visit.
Which events and exhibitions should I plan to reserve tickets for in advance?
- We recommend making an advance reservation if you are visiting during peak times, such as holidays and the opening or closing day of an exhibition. Walk-ups are welcome if tickets are available.
- Make exhibition ticket reservations
- Dining reservations for NCMA Café are always encouraged.
- Make NCMA Café reservations
- Reserving tickets for specific membership events depends on the event. We recommend consulting the specific event page to see if the event requires advanced tickets. You can view all upcoming membership events on the Events Calendar.
- Events such as Member Monday generally do not require advanced tickets, but we encourage you to check out the specific event page for more information.
How many times can I come to a ticketed exhibition?
You may visit a ticketed exhibition as many times as you’d like! Your number of tickets corresponds to your membership level. For example, a Dual/Family member can receive tickets for two adults and up to six children once a day for the length of the exhibition. A named cardholder should be present at the time of the visit.
Can I buy additional exhibition tickets at a discounted rate?
No, any additional guests that you buy tickets for (outside your guest passes) will have to pay full price for ticketed exhibitions.
Can I bring a nonmember with me to ticketed exhibitions or member events?
- With Dual/Family membership and higher, a named member can bring another adult guest as the second adult to ticketed exhibitions.
- For free member events such as Member Monday, you may bring a nonmember guest with you. For paid events, you will need to purchase tickets for nonmember guests.
How do I use my guest passes?
- Online, guest passes can be selected as the free “Member Benefit—Guest Pass” ticket when reserving exhibition tickets.
- Guest passes are only redeemable once and expire with your membership. After a guest pass is redeemed, you will no longer see this option.
- You may also request your guest passes in person at the Tickets and Information Desk or when booking tickets over the phone with our visitor experience team at (919) 715-5923.
When and how will I receive my membership cards?
- Physical cards are mailed to all members each year. They typically take around three weeks to reach mailboxes after a membership payment is processed.
- If you have not previously installed your digital membership card, you will get an email with a link to download your membership card within a few days of your membership purchase.
- If you have already installed your digital card, it should update automatically with your renewal term.
Are membership cards required when visiting the Museum?
- We encourage members to keep their membership card on them either digitally or physically as it may be needed to access specific member events or benefits.
- If you forget your membership card (or have not yet received it), we can look up your account at the Tickets and Information Desk in East Building.
What do I do if I lose my membership card and need a replacement?
- If you need a replacement membership card, please email us at membership@ncartmuseum.org.
How do members receive their digital membership cards and what happens if I need the link resent?
- New members will automatically receive an email with a link to download their digital membership card from membership@cuseum.org.
- If you need the link resent, please contact us at membership@ncartmuseum.org.
Where can I learn more about digital membership cards?
- For other questions about digital membership cards, please look at our guide to digital membership cards.
Can I pay for my membership through a donor-advised fund, family foundation, IRA, or company matching gift?
- Memberships may be paid through a donor-advised fund, family foundation, or by making a qualified charitable distribution from your IRA. However, IRS regulations require that you waive all associated membership benefits when using these giving vehicles. This means the Museum cannot provide tangible benefits—such as event invitations or other goods and services—in exchange for that payment. To enjoy the full range of membership benefits, we recommend purchasing your membership using a personal payment method.
- Membership contributions may be eligible for your company’s matching gift program to expand your impact on the Museum; however, matching gifts cannot be applied as partial payment to upgrade membership levels or benefits. Please check with your company for eligibility.
Can I pay to upgrade my membership in the middle of my membership term?
- Yes, thank you for your increased support! Please call membership at (919) 664-6754 or visit the Tickets and Information Desk in East Building to upgrade your membership. The cost to upgrade is the difference between what you paid for your membership and the new membership level. Benefits for the upgraded level will be available immediately, and your current expiration date will remain the same.
How does auto-renewal work?
- Autorenewal is an option for Individual, Dual/Family, Patron, and Benefactor membership levels. When you opt in, we automatically process your membership in the month your membership is set to expire. You’ll receive an email at the beginning of the month letting you know that the charge will be processed on or near the 15th of the month as a reminder
- You can opt in or opt out of autorenewal at any time by contacting membership at membership@ncartmuseum.org.
Can I get a refund on membership?
- No, memberships are tax-deductible donations and as such cannot be refunded following purchase.
I no longer want my membership; can I transfer it to someone else?
- No, memberships are nontransferable.
Can I buy a membership for someone else?
- Yes! You can buy a gift membership online. You can also purchase a gift membership over the phone at (919) 664-6754 or by visiting the Tickets and Information Desk in East Building.
- To ensure prompt delivery of member benefits, contact information for the recipient is needed at the time of purchase.
How do I redeem a gift membership?
- When you receive a gift membership, you are welcome to start visiting the Museum immediately!
- Membership cards will either be sent to you or to the person who gifted the membership, depending on what they selected at checkout. Membership cards are not needed to begin visiting.
To log in online, please make sure the Museum has your current email address. You can check at the Tickets and Information Desk in East Building when you visit or by emailing membership@ncartmuseum.org.
