Portable Gallery

Connecting students with art and artists

NCMA Winston-Salem’s Portable Gallery brings contemporary artworks by North Carolina artists directly into schools, making meaningful encounters with art part of everyday learning. First launched in Forsyth County in 2021, the program is expanding to serve students throughout the Piedmont Triad.

Each school visit is designed in collaboration with teachers and can support any grade level or subject area. Works of art become starting points for observation, conversation, and creative thinking, helping students make connections across history, science, literature, the visual arts, and more.

The Portable Gallery features a growing collection of paintings, prints, photographs, sculptures, and other original works by North Carolina artists. The program is available at no cost to schools, and visits are tailored to the needs of participating classrooms.
